Godspeed Endeavor!
Last night i had an opportunity to watch the last shuttle launch for now… NASA is planning on retiring the shuttles and replace them in like ten years with a new shuttle that will take us to the moon and Mars… I had never seen a shuttle launch but i was so glad i was able to go see it… after class yesterday myself and 7 of my fellow classmates drove to Cape Canaveral… on the way there we hit stop and go traffic for most of the way… what was suppose to be a 45 minute trip became about two hours… we finally got there and there were hundreds and hundreds of people sitting on the side of the ride, standing, sitting in lawn chairs… it was crowded… we finally found a parking spot and walked to where we could get the best view of the shuttle… from where we were the shuttle was about as big as an ant but let me tell you, when the boosters ignited it was like an atomic bomb had hit the launch pad… Everyone around was just in awe as it slowly lifted up and journeyed its way into space… as i sat there it boggled my mind how those astronauts were feeling as they were being shot up at about 250,00 mph defeating the earths gravitational pull… there can’t be a feeling in the world like it… as the shuttle lifted up it slowly turned upside down and tilted to an angle… as it soared further up you can see the booster rockets disengage from the shuttle and slowly descent back in to the ocean… it only lasted about a minute for the shuttle to leave our view but it felt like a lifetime…
Right in the middle of this picture where there seems to be a beam of light shooting up towards the moon is where the shuttle is waiting to be launched…
